As a reflection on Luke 24:13-35, this is a Christ figure in movement, walking passionately as if to catch up with the into which we, the disciples have taken dailiness the recent salvation experience. Recognition of the Christ is held from our immediate awareness. In our own perception, our image is a Jesus unlike the suffering servant of “the events that had taken place in Jerusalem.” Christ journeys with us so that we may understand the fulfillment of Old Testament metaphors and the reflections of others, that is the prophets that are present among us today. It is when we take time on our journey with each other, to reflect on the events of the day and in giving thanks together for shared insight, that Christ becomes present with us.
